We stayed overnight at Hotel du Vin Bristol for our anniversary recently. It was a last minute booking through Expedia, and they let us reserve the room without paying until you stayed, which I thought was really cool. The hotel contacted us beforehand to say that if we had any questions beforehand to get in touch - I thought this was nice, as we hadn’t booked directly.

When we arrived, the staff were just changing over, so there was a little wait. We were then given our keys and directions to our room on the third floor. Thankfully, there is a lift - it’s a little small, but useful.

Our room was very spacious and clean, with a large bed and lots of windows. The amenities were excellent, with a hairdryer, fridge, safe, iron/ironing board to use, as well as a kettle and small selection of hot drinks. It’d be great if there were more than 2 teabags to use (so you have one for the evening and one for the morning, at least), but otherwise, it was fine.

The bathroom was the main standout aspect of the room for us: the shower is huge! I really liked the rainfall shower head and there are L’Occtaine products available to use, which is a nice touch. The bath was superb - I had a nice long soak and read my book, so very much enjoyed a nice chance to relax.

Overall, we had a lovely stay - it’s a great city centre hotel that offers a more luxurious stay than your usual more generic business-focused hotel. It could do with a little modernisation (perhaps a bit of an update paint-wise, as it’s looking a little tired), but otherwise a fab place to get away for a city break.
