We visited here in January for a family member’s birthday. It’s a quaint little place just on the way to Cirencester, offering the usual fayre you might come to expect of an English country pub. If you have little ones, however, this is not the spot for you.

We had our 15 month old with us at the time and they don’t have any high chairs, changing facilities or any kind of kids menu to speak of. I’m glad I thought to bring a booster seat for her. They did offer to make a smaller plate up for her, which was kind, but we’d brought lunch for her with us anyway.

The food was alright; nothing I’d rave about, but fairly tasty. Some family members visit every year on Boxing Day and have the ham, egg and chips; however, I wasn’t that impressed, if I’m honest. Some ordered burgers and they arrived a little on the dry side. Others had sandwiches that were supposed to come with either crisps or chips, and they chose chips, but they came with the crisps anyway. It wasn’t a massive deal, so we didn’t say anything, but not great to not be told this would be the case.

The person running the bar and taking orders was very friendly, and it does have a cosy atmosphere, if you want to stop off somewhere on your journey for a bite to eat and a bit of a rest. I wouldn’t make a special trip out there again, personally, though.

It is pet friendly - my family had their dog with them and the staff were very kind to her, which was nice (shame they’re not the same way with little ones).
